Lemon, vinegar, wine, most bathroom and toilet cleaners, and any acidic product will etch the surface permanently, even where the stone has been sealed. Sealing makes the stone more resistant to staining, it does not stop etching and it does not make the stone stain-proof.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClean with a neutral pH stone cleaner, warm water and a soft cloth or mild dishwashing detergent, then rinse and dry. Avoid scouring powders and any abrasive cleaner, and never mix ammonia and bleach; used together they create a toxic gas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReseal when water stops beading on the surface rather than to a fixed schedule.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoth formats are laid on a full mortar bed, never on adhesive dabs; dab-bedding causes reflective staining that can't be reversed.
