Care & Installation
Our river stone basins are cut from granite boulders. Granite is the most chemically tolerant stone we stock, but keep acidic products off the surface anyway: avoid vinegar, lemon juice, and any acidic bathroom or toilet cleaner, and avoid rust removers and toilet-bowl cleaners containing hydrofluoric acid, which can attack any stone, including granite.
Wipe the basin dry with a soft cloth after each use to prevent hard-water marks. Clean with a soapy soft cloth or sponge, rinse well and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners and steel wool. Dense, dark granites often need little to no sealing, while lighter, coarser pieces benefit from a penetrating impregnating sealer to resist staining. Use the water-drop test to check: if water stops beading and starts soaking in, it is time to reseal.
